She is a hunter of Callisto. This she has known since she began training as one four years ago. Four years since her parents were killed by a vampire.

Four years since she was trained to hate the vampires for who they are. Four years since she entered training with her rescuer, Penny. Four years since she's been crafted into a vampire hunter... designed to kill and protect humans like her.... supposedly immune to compulsion...

Rebecca is sent to infiltrate an elite vampire university opening its doors to humans for the first time to retrieve an infamous tome called The Book of Blood and Roses for Callisto. It is rumored to contain the knowledge needed to kill a vampire. She is to assume the role of Cassie Smith, a rich heiress....

If she finds the book, she gets a promotion...and she is one step to avenging her parents...

until she one day returns to her dorm to find Aliz Astra... the heiress of one of the most powerful vampiric families as her roommate.

And the most beautiful woman that "Cassie" has ever met.

After Aliz rescues her from an attack by other vampires, she mistakenly makes Rebecca her Familiar. At first, both seem to realize that they shouldn't have done that, and they are both desperate to search for a cure...

But as they get to know each other, and Aliz and Rebecca grow closer... is the hunter bound to fall for her hunted?

Annie Summerlee has crafted a fantastic world blending dark academia, with fantasy, and all new vampire lineages that have me keening to know more. Summerlee has an amazing talent for imagery, and throughout the whole book I felt as if I were right there beside the characters. Mix that with the perfect dash of steamy sapphic romance... tension... and a beautiful imagining of hunter + hunted... and you have The Book of Blood & Roses.

I've only just read book one, and I am already craving book two...
