With subtle promises of cozy mysteries in a small town blended with magic, this had the promise of being the perfect novel to read when autumn is rolling around, as it slowly is now.

After a bit, it is clear that this novel is very heavily influenced by Gilmore Girls. The town, Mystic Hollow, is fantastically thought up, and the dialogue between characters flows somewhat well, with that mother-daughter duo theme being distinguishable...

The rest of the book was a quick read, but I found the introduction of many characters at once to be borderline confusing, the plot seemed to flow a little too quickly, and the dynamic and thoughts of our two main characters became hard to track with the sudden flurry of new voices, new plot points, twists and turns....

I do think that this book has a lot of wonderful potential to still be what it says, but there needs to be less reliance on the inspiration behind it, and more of the author's own voice and thoughts. There are many areas where I feel there are large plot holes or lack of explanation that makes the story seem half finished.
