When I saw that this took inspiration from the famed musical Phantom of the Opera, I of course had to check it out.

And I have absolutely no regrets when I saw that, this was absolutely worth the time I spent reading it. I devoured this in a manner of days...there is something that is so magical about seeing the original elements from the musical being incorporated with elements of the fantastical and to see the resulting story be told from a completely fresh perspective was something that made Sing the Night even better.

Add on top of it the very competition that Megan Jauregui Eccles has managed to create... the L'Opéra du Magician...the way that the tension, the high stakes, and the reality that this very competition for this very coveted position could make or break your life as a whole...and that everyone is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that it is them who ends up in the position of the King's Mage pulled me in more, keeping ahold of me till the very last page.

There's very little that I feel like detracts from this novel as a whole. If anything, this is more of a "just in case you need to know" or a "heads up" sort of thing that might be relevant for you, and it also may not be relevant for you. Sing the Night contains quite a bit of musical terminology and lingo that may not exactly make sense to you, and / or may be confusing. This novel does quite a wonderful job of nailing it when it comes to the intensity, and dedication that can come when devoting oneself to the arts...and this only shows just how much time and dedication that Megan put into her novel.

Sing the Night was an absolute delight of a read that will leave you engaged and wanting to know more until the very last page... and then will utterly wreck you with its ending. I cannot wait to follow along on this story's journey.
