If you are searching for something darker, or perhaps something wicked to itch that side of your mind... then Bitterbloom waits....
Perfect for fans of authors such as Ava Reid... Bitterbloom is a darkly wicked tale that promises forbidden knowledge and secrets.... but of course... for a price.... for Bitterbloom's tale is one soaked in blood, in dark magic and religion.... wrapped into a tale that is haunting and lyrical... spooky... and perfect for a late night read that may (or may not) keep you up at night. This is also the perfect read I would be reaching for in October...
I feel like this should be a bit of a disclaimer before I go any further into my review. Much like a world that is as complex as this one, and the ones that Ava Reid have made and many other authors like her... Teagan Olivia King's world is one that is deeply complex, and while it may be confusing to comprehend at first... it unfolds into a beautifully dark blossom of complexity like a fine wine....The only reason I rated it four stars is sometimes it is because while there is horror, perhaps this is not the complete gothic plunge that I so desired...
There is a deep sense of emotion that some may find highly moving... A sweet hint of romance... it is a living, breathing beast that is ready to strike... one that lurks in the dark...
And is a beautiful representation of feminine rage... and the anger and struggles that it may bring.... if you are looking for something that borderline plunges into the dark. and blends that into a lushly dark spin of a fairytale... Bitterbloom is that and so much more.
